The Maritime safety event gives all residents an opportunity to get to know the authorities and volunteer organisation in this sector. In this event on Varvintori square, you can use a car crash simulator, take a closer look at police cars and hear more about reservist activities and similar. The participating stakeholders help keep citizens safe, build up knowledge and skills and provide training. In addition to stands the event offers:

On this tour, we start outdoors, go around the old prison buildings and see the most exciting escape routes of times gone by. We then move on to the old Kakola church, now renamed Kakola Hall, where we see images of the cells and listen to stories of the colourful daily life of Kakola’s inmates. Tickets €19. This year, the concerts at the River Harbour Festival will aim to collect funds in support of Ukraine. Admission to the open-air concert held in the outdoor area of Forum Marinum will be free. At the concert, you can slip your donation for Ukraine into a Finnish Red Cross collection box or send it by MobilePay to: 66588. Red Cross volunteers will be around to collect donations, and the funds collected during the concert will go to the Finnish Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. The event will be opened by Mika Maaskola, Chair of the City Council.

Vice in Turku – towards the River Harbour

Come and learn about vice in Turku in times gone by. Which sins have been the downfall of residents in Turku over the centuries? The walk takes you through the history and sinful streets of Turku, leading you to wonder what the town was like and what efforts were made to fight vice. As the tour covers all sorts of sins and vice, it is not suitable for children. Turku, the Museum City of the Year, marks the start of the summer with a new urban event. In the Night of Museums, you can enjoy art and stories as well as music and happenings in the May night.

- 18:00–24:00 Of the Forum Marinum exhibits, museum ship Suomen Joutsen and the main exhibition at Kruununmakasiini granary, Working at sea, will be open on the Night of Museums. Why not bring the children and try and turn the wheel of the 120-year-old ocean-going ship, and drop in at children's maritime museum Tyrskynmyrsky?

Forum Marinum’s river ferry Pikkuföri serves museum-goers

River ferry Pikkuföri operates in the River Aurajoki on the Night of Museums. The ferry is an idyllic way of travelling between museums close by the river, including Forum Marinum – WAM – Aboa Vetus Ars Nova. There are no stops or timetables; you can get onboard by being in the right place at the right time. Wave your arm on the river bank to call the ferry over. The ferry is free, and can take at most 38 people at a time.

Libertalia

Libertalia is a site-specific artwork that will visit five European cities between 2021 and 2023. Each unique work will be created in the host cities through international cooperation between artists. Libertalia was inspired by legends of pirates and a longing for freedom.

35th anniversary parade of Samba Carioca

While preparing for the samba carnival of Helsinki, Samba Carioca wishes to share the joy of dance and music with all residents of Turku in form of a parade in the River Harbour area. Almost one hundred people will dance and play in the parade, from small children to the oldest honorary members of the samba school. Come and see the colourful costumes and rhythmic samba moves. The parade starts from the outdoor area of Forum Marinum.

This year, the concerts at the River Harbour Festival will aim to collect funds in support of Ukraine. Admission to the open-air concert held in the outdoor area of Forum Marinum will be free. At the concert, you can slip your donation for Ukraine into a Finnish Red Cross collection box or send it by MobilePay to: 66588. Red Cross volunteers will be around to collect donations, and the funds collected during the concert will go to the Finnish Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. The event will be opened by Mika Maaskola, Chair of the City Council.
The concerts are organised in cooperation by the City of Turku, Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, Forum Marinum Maritime Centre, Turku Conservatory and Turku Philharmonic Orchestra. Collection box donations at the concert are received by the Finnish Red Cross, which has a money collection permit.

River ferry Pikkuföri operates in the River Aurajoki on the Night of Museums. The ferry is an idyllic way of travelling between museums close by the river, including Forum Marinum – WAM – Aboa Vetus Ars Nova. There are no stops or timetables; you can get onboard by being in the right place at the right time. Wave your arm on the river bank to call the ferry over. The ferry is free, and can take at most 38 people at a time.

35th anniversary parade of Samba Carioca

While preparing for the samba carnival of Helsinki, Samba Carioca wishes to share the joy of dance and music with all residents of Turku in form of a parade in the River Harbour area.
